(Evangelio de San Juan 1, 35-47)
Al día siguiente estaba allí de nuevo Juan y dos de sus discípulos y, fijándose en Jesús que pasaba, dijo: «He aquí el Cordero de Dios». Los dos discípulos, al oírle hablar así, siguieron a Jesús. Se volvió Jesús y, viendo que le seguían, les preguntó: «¿Qué buscáis?». Ellos le dijeron: «Rabbí (que significa Maestro), ¿dónde vives?». Les respondió: «Venid y veréis». Fueron y vieron dónde vivía, y permanecieron aquel día con él. Era alrededor de la hora décima.

Why Be A Christian

Why be a Christian? Have you ever asked yourself that question?

You might ask it for any of a number of reasons. Maybe someone has been talking to you about “giving your life to Jesus,” and you’re wondering whether and why you should. Maybe you come from a Christian background and wonder whether all that religious training you received as a child still has any meaning for you. Maybe you’ve been trying to live a dedicated Christian life, but lately you’ve been tempted to give up and you’re wondering if it’s worth the effort to “hang in there.”

WHY NO WOMEN’S ORDINATION

DURING John Paul II’s visit to the United States for World Youth Day, a television reporter interviewed a 14-year-old Catholic girl who was boarding a bus bound for Denver to see the Holy Father. After being asked what she thought of the spiritual leader, the young girl replied, “I think he’s really great, but I disagree with his opinion that women can’t be priests.”
I couldn’t help but wonder what sources had influenced this young Catholic to form her views about this papal “opinion.” Had she actually read the documents issued by the pastor of the universal Church?
